Selfie Tag

Hey guys,

welcome to day 6 with Mollie's cup of tea. I'm here today with something that something that sounds a lot worse than what it actually is which is the Selfie Tag. Despite the title making it sound conceded and based around the 'art' of taking the perfect self-portrait, the questions are actually quite fun and sweet. I hope you like it.

1. What is your best physical feature?

3 things really stand out to me:
- my eyes - they're almond shaped and blue but the have a bit of yellow surrounding the pupil and brown around the edges. So I think they're quite interesting and that what I like them

- my legs - although not the slimmest, they're shapely and VERY long. I'm very tall and my waist is directly under my rib cage, then I have my hips and then it's legs, legs  legs. I like the fact that they don't look stubby when I'm wearing a dress, especially a midi one, and flats. However I do find it hard to find jeans that fit me. My favourite ones from Bershka just ripped so I'm on a hunt for a new pair :/
- my bum - bit random and weird to mention but I do like it :P It's big and perky  and looks awesome in jeans. The only thing is that it's 3 whole sizes bigger then my waist ( shout out for curves) so it's an addition in my struggle to find well fitting jeans.

2. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

Italy.I don't have a bucket list but if I did travelling around Italy would be at the top of it. It's a beautiful country with long and interesting history, extensive culture, known for its shoes and fashion as well as the love of curvy women and of course Italian food rocks. Like gimme me pasta everyday and I'll be happy since there so many variations and combos with it.

3. What do you need when you feel sick?

Ironically enough, I am currently very ill and it sucks popsickles. The one thing I need when I feel  sick is for me not to feel sick. I hate missing out on uni and being stuck in bed coughing and spitting out phlem. Yuck!!!
Other then that I need an endless supply of coffee and tea and my laptop and I'm somewhat ok with staying in bed.

4. What advice would you give to the youth of America and why?

Educate yourselves about the rest of the world. From what I see in movies, shows, youtube videos and various places on the internet it seems to me that American's are very conceded and tend to overlook the rest of the world. I mean they do generalise 50 countries as 'Europe' and from what I can see they can't name a quarter of them. To me it's just ignorant and makes smart people seem a lot more simple than what they actually are.

5. What animal do you think you were in your past life?

A guinea pig, duh.

6. If you could travel back in time what would you change?

Well, I wouldn't change my own time line because that could mess up my present and my future. I think that I would go back to the time when inequality was created and eradicate it. That way I think a lot of lives would be spared throughout history. So I would never write any essays on genocide and sob my eyes out(because it's sad not and horrible not because I have to write to an essay).

7. What do you do for fun on weekends?

-sleep
-shop
-write blog posts
-visit my friends
-have my friends visit me
-go on nights out and drink too much
-binge watch youtube and netflix
-deep clean my house

8. What's your biggest workplace petpeeve?

Well I'm not working at the moment and am studying a uni instead. My biggest pet peeve at uni is people being show offs. Don't get me wrong, putting your hand up and answering questions or coming out with witty insight is perfectly good and I do it myself. I get annoyed however when people decide to interrupt others to make their own point which they think is better or when they do that to the tutor or when they go on and on and don't let anyone else speak. Egh.

9. I wouldn't be caught dead without... my intelligence. One of my biggest fears is waking up one day and being plain old stupid. Oh lord please no.

10. If you could have a superpower what would it be?

To make sure that everyone is fed  and in good shape. No starvation or morbid obesity and maybe I could shed a few pounds in the process.

That's it for tonight's post. I hope you like it. See you tomorrow.

Makeup collection downsize

Hey guys,

and welcome to day 5 with Mollie's Cup of Tea. Today I'm going to take you through the downsizing of my makeup "collection" and the outcome of that. I got rid off the makeup that was out of date or that I didn't enjoy using to make space for some new products as my drawers were incredibly messy and overpacked.

Face products

I started out with 6 foundations. I threw two out because they were empty. Had one of them been full, Rimmel Match Perfection I would have left it. The other one, Bourjois Healthy Mix I would have gotten off any way because although I have the lightest shade, it is far too dark for me and it does not suit my skin type at all as it is a glowy foundation and I have oily skin so I end up looking like a lighthouse when wearing this.

Then I went onto the other face stuff such as concealers and bases. I downsized from having 3 bases and 4 concealers to 2 bases and 3 concealers. I was not a fan of the consistency of the products that I got rid off so I didn't use them and it was time to say goodbye.

Next it was time for all the colourful face products. I started out with 9 blushes, 3 highlighters and 2 bronzers and I got rid off 2 blushes, 1 highlighter and 1 bronzer.

Eyeproducts

This was the moderlode of my makeup. First I tackled all the single eye products.

On the left I have the products which I was getting rid off which was 14 and on the rid I have have the products which I kept which came to a grand total of 11 which means that I got rid off over half of what I had!

It was time for palettes next. This was hard. Really hard. I started off with 19 and got rid off 5 which I was happy with since I love and use the rest of the palettes.

Lip products

I started off with 26 lipsticks and I managed to only keep 15. Whoop whoop. I realised I had 3 orange lipsticks that were extremely similar which was a sign that it was definitively time to downsize.

It also turned out that I had an abundance of lip glosses. 19 of them in total. Unfortunately I only managed to get rid off 6 but they were all too pretty to throw away.

This is the finished result:

Makeup I got rid off:

Total at the beginning: 116 products
End total : 72

I hope that you enjoyed this post and that you'll do some makeup purging yourself. I'll see you tomorrow in my next post.

This or That Beauty Tag

Hey guys,

welcome to the 4th day with a week with Mollie's Cup of Tea. I was on YouTube this morning and I came across the This or That Beauty Tag. The idea of it is that I choose  between two beauty options based on personal preference. I hope that you enjoy this post.

Questions:

Makeup:

1. blush or bronzer - Blush. As an extremely pale person, once I apply my base I'm fit to play Caspar the Friendly Ghost so I think that a little bit of blush brings some life onto my face.

2. lipgloss or lipstick - As a young teen I loved lipgloss. Now I rarely use it because it's sticky and it wears off far too fast. Lipstick on the other hand stays on for hours, even the crappiest one, and it's non sticky so I much prefer it.

3. eyeliner or mascara - Mascara, definitively. Eyeliner without the former would just look plain weird.

4. foundation or concealer - This is a hard one. My skin is very problematic. I have bad acne scars so even when my skin has no break outs it looks pretty uneven. But leaving my dark circles untouched... eh could look pretty messy. Overall however, I think that a good foundation could do a decent job at covering everything that needs to be covered and it can double up as a concealer, so that is definitively my choice.

5. neutral or colourful eyeshadow - As much as I enjoy creative, colourful eyelooks but on an everyday basis I much prefer neutrals.

6. pressed or loose eyeshadow - pressed eyeshadow is much easier to use and a lot less messy.

7. brushes or sponges - I prefer brushes because sponges have a tenancy to sheer foundation which I prefer to be full coverage with a flawless finish.

Nails:

1. China glaze or OPI - I have tried neither so I can't choose.

2. long or short - Out of practicality, short. They require far less maintenance.

3. acrylic or natural - natural all the way.

4. brights or darks - I like both but dark ones look good all year round so that's what I'm going to choose.

5. flower or no flower - you what?  no idea what this questions is asking

Body:

1. Perfume or body splash - perfume. I find re-applying scents throughout the day just a tad tedious so I prefer perfumes as they tend to be very long lasting,  or at least more long lasting than body mists.

2. lotion or body butter - body butter purely because they come in jars which are far easier to navigate when your hands get greasy. And it's easier to get the exact amount needed so no product gets wasted.

3. body wash or soap - Body wash because it just smells so damn good.

4. lush or other bath company - I think Lush is very overpriced so I never buy myself anything from there. So any other, more affordable bath company.

Fashion:

1. jeans or sweat pants - I don't wear sweat pants in public. I consider them to be lounge wear so I think they look lazy and scruffy when worn out, at least on me. So definitively jeans.

2. long sleeve or short - short. I like layering and it's hard to find nice long sleeve tops.

3. dresses or skirts - dresses because they're the simplest thing to throw on and look put together.

4. stripes or plaid - I am currently obsessed with stripes but I currently own nothing (pretty sure of that but not 100%) in that pattern so I guess plaid of which I have plenty.

5. flip flops or sandals - sandals. Flip flops flop about far too much and they are far more appropriate for the beach or pool I think.

6. scarves or hats - in recent months I've been a hat person despite having a trillion and one scarves so I'll have to say hats.

7. studs or dangly earrings  - I loveeee making a statement with big dangly earrings.

8. necklaces or bracelets - bracelets are far too annoying to wear. They make noise when I'm moving my hands or using the computer and just genreally get in the way. Necklaces on the other hand do not get in the way and make a lovely, quiet statement.

9. heels or flats - day to day flats. Special occassions, heels. I love shoes so this question is not fair.

10. cowboy or riding boots - riding boots I guess. I've never worn or owned a cowboy pair of boots so maybe it'd be nice to try them out.

Hair:

1. curly or straight - wavy. I like how feminine and sexy it looks. Straight tends to look very neat, too neat.

2. bun or pony tail - I am forever wearing messy buns. Ponytails require more work and maintenance since I think they look better neat so definitively buns.

3. bobby pins or butterfly clips - Butterfly clips were cool when I was 5. That is no longer the case so bobby pins.

4. hair spray or gel - hair spray. I don't like my hair looking too sleek (read: greasy).

5. long or short - long, long, long and then some.

6. light or dark - as a brunette, I'll have to go with dark.

7. side sweep or full bangs - side sweep.  I had full bangs for years and they were far too high maintenance.

8. up or down - down. I only put my hair up when it's  getting a bit iffy.

I think that it shows pretty well that I'm a low maintenance when it comes to beauty so I like things simple and easy.I hope that you liked this tag and post.

University Life Lessons

Hey guys,

and welcome to day three with Mollie's cup of tea. I'm here today to share with you some of the little life lessons that my (almost) two years of studying Law at university has taught me.

1. Caffeine is your best friend - late nights, early mornings and very long and busy days packed with lectures, seminars, assignments, socialisation and procrastination which leads to another late night. It always seems that the days are too short to do everything, especially when procrastinating, so that extra boost of caffeine is a basic necessity.

2.You will start doing anything and everything but uni work - it's a 'scientific' fact that chores become far more appealing and urgent when you have an assignment due. And not just chores. Suddenly there is a million books to read, films to watch and people  to see. So no matter the good intentions everyone procrastinates and it's ok as long as the work is handed in on time.

3. Plan or you will die - not literally but you will get drowned with work and you will feel overwhelmed and like you have no life while playing catch up. Besides things won't creep up on you if have them written down somewhere where you can see them everyday.

4. You will end up in class hungover - another unavoidable thing if you drink alcohol. Sooner or later you will go out 'for a few' the night before an 8am start and you will regret it. It's ok, it happens to the best of us.

5. The all nighter - oh, the nightmare inducing all nighter. At one point or another you will have to stay up all night to hand in an assignment which you left to finish/complete for the night before. And then you'll have to power through the day by replacing your blood with caffeine.

That's it for today's post. I hope that you liked it. You can check out the previous days here:

Recent movie favourites

Hey guys,

and welcome to the second instalment in a week with Mollie's Cup of Tea. I'm here today to talk to you about some of the movies I've been enjoying over the last couple of months. Winter time calls for some serious movie watching so that's exactly what I've been doing and thereby I found some real gems that I would like to share with you. I definitely recommend all of them and I think there's something here for everyone.

1. Babadook - This is a movie about a mother and son who lost their husband and father on the day the boy was born in a car accident. One night the mother is reading the boy a bedtime story and that's where the sh*t starts kicking off. The story that was in the book is about a monster called Babadook and it starts coming to life. That is all that I am going to say about the plot.
This horror movie was wonderfully tense and atmospheric and it had no jump scares which was incredibly refreshing. I think that pointless and fake jump scares take away from the actual horror and when something that is creepy and scary happens we are no longer scared because that tension was released with the fake jump scare. This movie does not make such mistake and it kept me on the edge of my seat (well deep inside it, hiding under a
blanket) throughout.

2. The Borderlands/Final Prayer - This is another non-jumpy horror movie that is plain, old creepy. It is done in a found footage style which I think worked well because of the actual plot of the film. The baseline story is that a group of ghost hunters/busters have been asked by a priest to investigate a remote church which is reportedly hunted. To find and record proof or it's lack, they install cameras around the church as well as wear head-cams and hence the found footage. I don't want to give anything away but I will say that the ending was a bit of a shocker in a good way.

3. Big Hero Six - Now, on the opposite side of the spectrum we have a Disney film. It's a beautiful, heart warming story about a troubled, boy genius who loses his big brother and is suffering with grief. His brother has left behind a robot-nurse which is trying to make the boy 'better'. In this process, they encounter on a wonderful adventure together whereby they fight a villain, become heroes and most importantly they become friends. I'm not gonna lie, I cried a couple of times during this film. But I also laughed a lot and I honesty absolutely loved it and I think that it is a must watch for all.

4. Gone Girl - This movie has been talked about a LOT and no wonder. It is an amazingly mind-f**king film that makes you question what the hell is going on throughout and even at the end. The story starts with the main character's wife being kidnapped and possibly murdered. I can't say any more without giving it away but if you watch it I guarantee that you will have plenty of WTF moments and possibly scream at the screen (or at least do that in your head).

5. Two night stand - This is a super romantic film that is not a chick-flick and it just puts the biggest smile on my face. The story starts with a woman, who recently graduated from university and has no idea what to do with her life, being pushed by her room-mate into having a 'one night stand'. After the night is over and she tries to leave in the morning, it turns out that there has been a snow storm and that she is snowed in so she has to stay at the man's house. During the course of that day a wonderful, hear warming story develops which like  said makes me super happy and leaves a grin on my face.

6. Birdman - How do I even begin to explain this movie. It is a comedy drama about an actor who used to play  an iconic super hero but his career is somewhat dead and he is now performing in a Broadway play. In the build up to the play being released he tackles his ego, family issues and dead - end career.

7. Walk of shame - This movie absolutely hilarious. It's about a news reporter woman who has a very important job interview the next day. However, her boyfriend breaks up with her so she is talked into a night out on the town by her friends and things get a little bit out of hands to say the least. She wakes up in a 'strangers' bed, severely hungover  and in a rush to get to her interview. However, it's not so easy for her to get there and she encounters multiple hilarious adventures on her way.

8. Whiplash - I saved the best for last. This is a definite kick up the backside movie as well as teaching the lesson that there are limits to what you should do to chase your dream and achieve it. It tells a story of a talented young man who is in a music school and dreams of becoming a drummer. A very... hmmm... pushy but renowned teacher takes interest in him and provides him with opportunities to achieve his dream. However, it's a very bumpy and hard road to get there. It does make you question how much
you want something and how much is it worth. So not only is it a great movie but it's also some food for thought.

That's it for this day's post guys. I hope that you like it. You can check out my last post from this week's series here. I'll see you in my next post tomorrow.
