Top 10 under £10

I hope that you're all well. I'm here today to share with you my favourite products under £10. Some (if not all) you might already know from my previous post but I thought that it be far more helpful and interesting if I gathered them all together and showed them to you. I skipped a few of my more obvious favourites that I rave about constantly such as the Rimmel Stay Matte powder so that I could showcase the products that I don't about as much but love just as much. I hope you enjoy.

1. Makeup Revolution Blush Palette in Sugar and Spice

This beautiful blush palette consists of 6 blushes and 2 highlighters. That in itself is great value for money. It has 2 dusty pink shades, 3 true pinks and a peachy pink as well as a white and pink highlighter. They are all very nicely pigmented which means that you don't need a lot for it to show but also that it's hard to 'hurt' yourself when using them i.e. apply too much. 

 2. L'Oreal Infallible Foundation £9.99

This is my foundation discovery of this year (so far), although I think that it will be hard to beat. It is really buildable with medium to really, really high coverage aka flawless skin. I barely have to use concealer with this. It has a satin finish so it would work well on majority of skin types. I have oily combination skin and it stays looking great all day long. 

3. Makeup Revolution Ultra 32 Eyeshadow Palette in Flawless £8

This palette consists of, as the name suggests, 32 neutral eyeshadows ranging from matte to shimmer. All the colours have a lovely amount of pigmentation and they blend very easily. They wear perfectly all day long without fading or creasing. As you can see from the pictures this palette is very well loved and I think that it is an absolute bargain for the price.

4. Maybelline Colour Tattoo £4.99

This product is an individual cream eyeshadow. I have it in the colour 50 Eternal silver but I need to buy more ASAP. I use it as an eyeshadow base for any sparkling looks that I do but I know that it works perfectly as an eyeshadow on its own. It's very nicely pigmented, creamy and blendable and it wears perfectly all day without creasing which is impressive considering that this is a cream.

6. Makeup Revolution Ultra Bronze Bronzer £3

A bronzer that works well on us pale folks at a super affordable price. Very blendable, buildable and perfect for contouring. Simply ticking all the boxes.

7. L'Oreal Colour Infallible Eyeshadows £6.99

This product is not a typical eyeshadow. It's not a pigment either, it's sort of a pressed pigment. It's very pigmented and an absolute pleasure to use. I definitively need to buy more shades of these.

8. Makeup Revolution Focus and Fix Eyebrow Shaping Kit £2.50

This little palette consist of an eyebrow wax which help to fill in the blanks and to tame stray hair as well as helping to keep the eyeshadows in place. It also consists of 3 eyeshadows (eye brow colours?) ranging from light to dark so that you can get a great match.

 9. Catrice camouflage cream around £3.50

This a super creamy, high coverage concealer. It covers everything from dark circles and redness to spots. I will say that is creases slightly under the eyes unless it is very well powdered but that has to do with its creaminess I think. It is an absolute must have.

10. MaxFactor Miracle Touch Blush £6.99

Another blush product. This time it's a cream blush. It's very nicely pigmented and easy to blend. I think that creamy blushes, especially this one give a more natural effect than powder ones which is why I love them. If you have normal or dry skin you can wear this without powdering over it which means that you'll have the benefit of extra glowy skin with this.

£20 makeup challenge

I hope that you're all well. I'm here today with something a little bit different thanks to one of my friends. I've been lacking inspiration for ideas recently and she brought up the idea of doing the £20 makeup challenge. This means that all the products that I use must add up to no more than £20 in value. I thought at first that this would be easy as I use affordable makeup products on an everyday basis. I started gathering a few bits and bobs and I realised just as much it costs. I recently posted an everyday makeup tutorial here. I just did the product total and overall it cost me £90! That's quite a bit for someone who's on a budget. So let's try something a bit more affordable, shall we?

First I'm starting off with my bare, spotty face (my skin is having a major crisis).

Then I applied the One Foundation from Makeup Revolution (£4). It did not cover as well as I would have liked unfortunately so I decided to use some concealer.

I used the Makeup Revolution Concealer (£1.50). To my disappointment it barely covered anything so my dark circles were still shining through. I wish that I could have used a concealer with a higher coverage but it would have taken me over my budget.

Next I powdered my face to keep the shine away. I used my all time favourite which is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder (£3.99). This is a great affordable product but you've heard me rave about it enough so that's all I'm going to say about it.

Then I applied some blush also from Makeup Revolution in the colour Treat (£1) to liven up my face. I love this blush to bits as I find that peachy coloured blushes really warm up my face.

As I had no money in my budget to contour my face or to highlight it, I went straight to eyebrows and and eyes. I used the Essential Mattes palettes by Makeup Revolution (£4) for this. I think that this palette is a great bargain.

I used the darkest brown colour in the palette for my brows. I was not 100% happy with how they turned out as I'm so used to using a wax as the base for my eyebrows and without it they looked a little bit messy to me. However, the eyeshadow itself was a good match for me and applied well.

For my eyes, I started by applying the lightest shade in the palette all over my lid. 

Then I used the darker purple shade in the palette in the crease to define it.

Then I used the same shade as I used for my brows to further deepen my crease.

Then I applied the pale pink shade from the palette to highlight my lid.

As I had no money in my budget for eyeliner, so I used the black shade from the same palette for this. 

I also applied the same colour in the outer V of my eye because I attempted to do a winged eyeliner look but it didn't turn out right so I had to improvise. So instead I blended out the line to further define my eye further.

I finished off my look with the NYC Big Bold mascara (£3.99) in Extra Black and the Makeup Revolution lipstick in Rebel with a cause (£1).

Overall I think that it is very do-able to create a makeup look with £20 in your pocket. I think that the eyes and the lipstick are the strong points of this challenge and that the coverage of the concealer are it's downside.

January 2015 Beauty Favourites

I hope that you're all well.  I'm here today to show you the products that I've been loving over the last month. 


MAC Lipstick in Diva - Matte Finish

This is my first ever MAC liptick. It has a matte finish and it's a dark, cool tones red which is mega vampy and mega eye catching. It has proven to be very long lasting, probably to the matte formula, although it's quite soft when applying it. I have used in two of my recent tutorials:

Next I have something which I didn't ever see my self using which is a gel eyeliner. This particular one is the L'Oreal Super Liner Gel Intenza in Pure Black. It's super creamy and black and it helps me to create the perfect winged eyeliner look. I also used it in the tutorials mentioned above.

Next up I have an eyeshadow palette which I dreamed about for a long time. It's the Nude-tude palette from the Balm. It has 12 beautiful neutral shades in beautiful packaging. The palette itself is (almost) worth buying just for the packaging. On the front we have a picture of a beautiful bedroom or dressing room and inside of the palette there is 6 lovely, naked ladies whose 'bits' are covered with the eyeshadows. My favourite shades in the palette are 'Stand-offish'  which is a shimmery pink, 'Sophisticated' which is a grey-brown shimmery colour and 'Sexy' which is a burgundy matte shade. I will say that all of the shadows are very nicely pigmented. However some of the darker shades like 'Sleek' are a bit harder to blend which is the only downside of the palette.

Next, is another palette from the Balm which I love even more than the first. It's the Balm Voyage palette. It has a some neutral shades as well as some more colourful and interesting shades. As well as that it has 3 creme shades which are good for both the cheeks and the lips. The shadows are buttery and beautifully pigmented and they can create a wonderful variety of looks. 

The last product that I have from the Balm is the Mary-Loumanizer which is a champagne coloured highlighter which gives a beautiful glow to the cheeks but doubles up well as an eyeshadow or inner corner highlight. It's a very famous product and it is definitely worth the hype.

The following product was an absolute hit this month. It's the L'Oreal Infallible foundation in 015 Porcelain. It has lovely full coverege and is very buildable and not cakey looking. It is very long lasting and it doesn't go patchy through the course of the day. I will say however, that it doesn't have a matte or satin finish so my skin does look shiny quicker than with foundations of that finish.
