April Non Beauty Favourites 2014

Hey guys,
I'm back today with my non beauty favourites of April. This includes books, and  tv shows.

Favourite Books:


 1. The Fault in our Stars - I thought this book was great..I read it in one evening and would recommend it to anyone who likes no-BS story telling. It doesn't put fluff around things, it just puts as they are. A little bit bitter-sweet and with a shadow over it (because it follows a girl who has cancer), yet very insightful. If you're ready for a few laughs and tears go pick this one up. I'm currently waiting for the movie to be released, which is sometime in May.

2. The lying game - This is the 1st book in a series of 3 (so far) written by Sara Sheppard, the author of the Pretty Little Liars books. This one took me a little bit longer to read as I only read it whilst I was visiting my family for weekends, which is like once a month or so.  I thought it was intriguing as it talks about murder of a teenage girl and her long lost twin sister Emma is being blackmailed to pretend to be the girl that is dead, Sutton so that no one can realise that Sutton is gone. We don't know who the killer is and therefore we follow Emma's investigation. I would definitively recommend it if you like Pretty Little Liars. However I wouldn't recommend the TV show based on the books as the only thing that it has with common with the book is that it's based around  twins named Emma and Sutton. This may not have been that tragic, however there is only a season and a half of the show and it ends on a cliffhanger as it was cut mid-way through the season. I presumed that the (short) second season would be rushed but that we'd get some answers but no.  So go read the book(s).


Films:

1. Divergent - film based on a book trilogy of the same name. I loved the first two books, the 3rd one I only enjoyed towards the end, nonetheless I had high expectations when I went to see this film. It's a dystopian story based around a female teenage protagonist. Very common plot base nowadays however the story is original and exciting. I recommend that you read the books before watching the film.

2. Bad words - it's a very inappropriate comedy based around a 40 year old man who enters a spelling-bee competition and becomes friends with a kid that is roughly 10. The humour in this film is very clever as it is not delivered in an obvious manner i.e. insults aren't just thrown, you have to read into (not too hard) into what is being said.


TV shows:


1. Game of Thrones - I don't think that I need to explain this one. It's epic that is all. Just don't watch it with  your parents unless  they're super cool with a lot of sex, nudity, violence, incest, cannibalism and swearing.


2. Hannibal - this show is so messed up and disturbing but it is so great. I'm not a fan of gore but this centres itself more around the psychology of serial killers and the mind of Hannibal the Cannibal. Just don't watch it with your food unless you find gore more scary than gross like me.

April Favourites 2014

Hey guys. I'm here today to show you a couple of things that stood out to me throughout last month.

Firstly I've been loving this Sleek MakeUP Blush by 3 in the colour PINK SPRINT 366. It's filled with extremy bright pinks that can do some serious damage if you  apply too much. So less is more in this case. When applied right, these colours provide a nice bit of colour to the face that's perfect for the current season. 

 

The second product that I've been loving this pats month is related to the blushes. It's a brush by ecotools. I don't have the actual name for it , but it's just a big, fluffy brush. It's incredibly soft and ideal for me to apply blush with as it blends it out well.

My next favourite is a concealer. It's the Rimmel London Wake me up concealer in the shade 030 Classic Baige. It provides enough coverage to conceal spots and dark circles whilst still brightening my face. It doesn't crease, dry up or darken with wear. 

The last make up product that I've enjoyed this month is the Maybelline Eye Studio eyeshadow in Jade. It's a  highly pigmented eyeshadow in pealry white colour. I use it in large quantities in my innner eye corners to brighten up my eyes and make them look bigger and more awake. 

 

My nail polish favourites of the month are Essie's 'set in stone' glitter nail polish worn over Eye Candy's 'minty'. They last incredibly well and they look fantastic for spring.

Spring and Summer 2014 Primark and H'n'M Fashion Haul

 Hi guys, I hope you've been well and enjoying the beautiful weather that we have in England, I definitely have. I was not able to post over the last couple of weeks because my laptop was broken (by me and my BFF coffee) and I only just got a new one. It was for the best because that machine was run down to the ground and needed replacing and that just hurried it along. Now that that's out of the way, we can move onto the haul.

So I've been wanting to build up and spring and summer wardrobe since March, however student life is the life of constantly being on a budget. Therefore I only picked up a couple of things then but made up for it yesterday. I'm going start of with showing you  the things that I got in Primark in March and then move onto my more recent trip. Enjoy

The sweatshirt that I'm wearing in the picture below (yes that's me) is currently in the wash but I found this picture of me wearing it and I thought that it'll do. I'm a size 10 and I got it in a size 12 so that the sleeves would be long enough and so that it wouldn't be clingy. The sweatshirt is made out of quite a thin material in a sense that it's not made for cold weather not in a sense that it feels cheap as it actually feels quite nice. The print on it is floral and it says "TRUE LOVE HURTS". The florals are very spring appropriate and the sleeves are perfect for the British weather. PRICE : £8

  

The dress on the side has a skater cut but has short sleeves. Its bright floral pattern is what drew my attention. I got it in a size 12 as despite the waist and length suiting me at size 10 the sleeves felt a bit tight. PRICE: £8

This dress is the same dress as the dress above but it is in a different pattern that's made up of circles and that I can't really describe. I couldn't decide between the two and therefore I got both :P PRICE: £8

This 'denim' top with a floral pattern I got in a size 10 as it runs pretty true to size. It has a loose cami fit and it's slightly cropped. I think that it is very flattering and feminine and it will go well with some colourful shorts(which I have yet buy). One thing that I have to say about it is that I don't think it will look well with a bra underneath not because of the straps but because of how bulky it looks. I'm going to go bra-free with this one but a brallette or a thin bikini top are also good options. PRICE: £5

Primark Haul April 2014 - Blackpool Primark.

Here are the stuff that I bought yesterday at the Blackpool Primark. I had to return a three things because they didn;t fit or suit me whatsoever but that's what inspired the purchases that I made in H'n'M.

New mint green tennis shoes to go with the bag from my last post. They're beautiful and comfortable and I won't feel too bad if they get ruined. PRICE: £6

Black and white checked dress. It looks like a two piece because the top part is loose and I think that it is one of my favourite purchases. PRICE: £13

Wacky sunglasses. They're big, they're round and they definitely make a statement.  PRICE £3

Distressed dungarees. I originally picked them up in a size 10 but when I tried them on at home I realised that waist-wise they may fit me well but height-wise not so much. I decided to go 2 sizes up i.e. to a size 14 to give them a looser fit. PRICE: £12

PJs. Bit of a random purchase but their lovely pastel colours drew me in and I couldn't resist.   They're pretty thin and therefore I won't get too hot in them during the night. PRICE: £8

Underwear set. I know it's weird to show your underwear on the internet but the pattern of this set was just so cute that I had to share it with the world wide web. MY other undergarment purchases however I won't be showing off. PRICE: £4

California sweatshirt in orange. I picked this up in a size 12 and it reaches just below my bum. It's a lovely thin but warm enough for spring fabric and I think it'll be good to wear with a pair of shorts or jeans on a chilled day. PRICE: £8

Mint green sweatshirt.  Same material and size as the previous one however this one is considerably shorter as it reaches my hips and doesn't cover my behind. PRICE: £8

Mint green "crop" top. I put the 'crop' part in speech-marks as it's length is neither truly cropped (belly button and up) nor t-shirt length (hips and below). None the less it is a lovely top that will look good with a pair of shorts or  jeans or tucked into a skater skirt. I picked it up to wear it under the dungarees with the tennis shoes (look above). It's in size 12. PRICE: £5

Baby blue loose t-shirt. Nothing more to say than that other than that I picked it up in a size 12 for a looser  fit. PRICE: £5

T-shirt dress. It's definitively not a long t-shirt for those wondering as it hits me half way down my thighs. I absolutely love the print on this dress and for a daytime look I'll pair it with navy converse or my low wedged sandals and for night-time I'll dress it up with high heels and big sparkly earnings. PRICE: £6

Baby blue baby doll dress. It's made out of a thick, soft fabric in a beautiful shade of baby blue and it has that adorable collar. I think this a very feminine dress and I plan on wearing it to a christening. I'll probably wear it to uni as well but that just shows that it is very versatile. PRICE: £13

Last but not least my favourite face wipes. They're the only ones that don't break out my skin and they're at a bargain of £1 for 50! I pick them up every time I go to Primark.

H'n'M stuff

This beautiful romper is the first one I bought of its kind. It's short but not too revealing and it has  very cute back detailing (look picture below). I picked this up in a size 10 as it run true to size. PRICE: £12.99

The dress above is in a beautiful mint green and is extremely flattering. It's made out of a soft, thick and stretchy material and this picture doesn't do it justice. Size small. PRICE: £14.99

These shorts are fanaticism. Simple, stretchy and high waisted, just what I was looking for. Picked them up in a size 12 as I encountered the usual problem of the crotch to waist distance to being big enough for my height. PRICE: £12.99
